It is with profound joy and reverence that we welcome Cardinal Robert Prevost as the 267th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, taking the papal name Leo XIV. His election marks a historic milestone as the first American to ascend to the papacy.
Born in Chicago, Pope Leo XIV’s journey reflects a life dedicated to service, compassion, and global unity. From his early ministry in Peru to his leadership within the Augustinian Order and the Vatican’s Dicastery for Bishops, he has exemplified the values of humility and inclusivity.
In his first address, Pope Leo XIV called for peace and solidarity among all peoples, echoing the enduring message of love and justice that has been central to the Church’s mission.
